TNB services continuing during MCO 2.0

PUTRAJAYA, 13 Jan 2021:

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) ’s Kedai Tenaga and meter reading activities will be proceeding as usual during Movement Control Order (MCO) and Emergency, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

He said all other electricity supply services such as new electricity connection, repairs, and the service of TNB CareLine at 15454 as well as TNB Facebook CareLine are expected to go on as usual.

“During MCO, there will also be no disconnection of electricity supply by TNB to safeguard the welfare and well-being of consumers,” he said in a statement today.

TNB customers are advised to go online for payment of bills via TNB website and myTNB application, he said.

Consumers are advised to practise prudent and efficient electricity consumption during MCO as the consumption of household electricity will rise much higher compared to the normal period as experienced during the previous MCO.

This is more so when people are told to adhere to MCO by staying at home and with children having to learn via online, he said.

Shamsul Anuar said the people should switch off appliances not in use and he called on consumers to benefit from Program SAVE 2.0 to obtain e-rebate of RM200 to purchase energy saving air-conditioner and refrigerator as a measure to save electricity consumption.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday announced the implementation of MCO for 14 days in six states namely Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah, from today until Jan 26.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah yesterday proclaimed an Emergency to be enforced until Aug 1 as a proactive move to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Malaysia.
