KUALA LUMPUR, 16 March 2018:
The long awaited rail link connecting KL Sentral to Subang Skypark is expected to commence operations in early May.
KTM Bhd (KTMB) chief operating officer Rani Hashim Samsudin said the rail service would have one stop in Subang Jaya before heading straight to the Subang Skypark in an estimated time of 28 minutes.
“We are currently conducting the final tests on the trains as well as finalising the ticket price with the Land Public Transport Commission.”
The trains can ferry about 300 passengers at a time and this is aimed at easing the traffic congestion as well as serving airline passengers and those working in the Skypark terminal.
The RM521 million project was commissioned in 2013 for completion in 2016, before receiving a time extension to June 2017.
KTMB, which has now officially partnered with e-hailing application Grab, also aims to continue providing services for its passengers till their end destinations.
“We hope with this latest extension and our partnership with Grab, we can continue to provide seamless public transportation to everyone,” said Rani Hashim.
Grab Malaysia country head Sean Goh said KTMB passengers would enjoy exclusive discounted rides during festive seasons and had allocated designated pick up and drop off zones at all major KTMB stations.
Grab which is Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation has drivers from across the board, including taxi and private drivers.
