KUALA LUMPUR, 29 July 2020:
The Social Security Organisation (Socso) plans to expand its OKU Mini Job Carnival programme to other states and rural areas to provide employment opportunities to persons with disabilities.
Socso said in a statement yesterday this initiative – under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) – is aimed at helping prepare job seekers with disabilities to enter the work environment and providing them with a platform through open interviews.
“Among the upcoming locations are Penang, Johor, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak.”
It said Socso – through the Employment Insurance System (EIS) office – also organised the programme yesterday at Wisma Perkeso here featuring various activities including job marketability briefing, career counselling, MYFutureJobs counter and interview sessions.
A total of 1,310 job opportunities was offered to the disabled at the one-day carnival which was attended by nine employers and 154 persons with disabilities.
