While few had much optimism for property projects in the area close to the Second Link to Singapore in the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis back at the turn of the millennium, one Johor developer had faith in this area’s prospects and bought 174 acres there in 2001.
This land was developed into Taman Nusa Bestari Jaya and Taman Nusa Indah – and maintaining faith in the area’s prospects, another 290 acres were bought in 2005. This was developed into Taman Nusa Sentral – where development is still ongoing.
And 16 years later, this Johor developer has bought up another 164 acres and Country View Bhd is confident its next projects down south will be successful as well.
Executive director Law Kit Tat said Country View takes a long term view of development prospects, given its experience spanning over 30 years. “Economic cycles come and go, and we see the downturn from 2008 offering us a chance to tap into the next upturn.”
He said Country View will soon undertake development of over 600 affordable homes as well close to Taman Nusa Sentral.
Country Views developments are part of the partnership concept adopted by the area’s master developer UEM Sunrise Bhd, which still has a landbank of around 10,000 acres within what was previously known as Nusajaya.
Thanking Country View’s long-term support in this previously greenfield area, UEM Sunrise managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said: ” Having built more than 15,000 units of residential and commercial properties – which include over 5,000 units of low cost houses across Johor – Country View is well-positioned to not just augment the growth of Iskandar Puteri, but to play a key part in ensuring the community there thrives.”
