Parlo inks deal for Myanmar migrant worker services

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Sept 2020:

ACE-listed travel management company Parlo Bhd has inked a tripartite agreement to exclusively provide employment agency-related services for migrant workers from a source country to the destination country.

The agreement was entered with Myanmar-based Diamond Palace Group of Companies Ltd and Agensi Pekerjaan Seaview Hectare Sdn Bhd.

Parlo executive director and chief executive officer Dani Yap Tsok Lim said the employment agency services under the collaboration include travel logistics and dormitory arrangements and arrangement for medical examinations for migrants workers.

“All parties have agreed to explore the need to set up vocational training schools, manage and supervise training, provide micro-financing, and implement a digital identity solution to digitise information of migrant workers,” he told press conference after the signing ceremony here yesterday.

He said the collaboration would provide the company with a new revenue source as it faced a stalemate in the tourism industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Parlo chief operation officer Mac Ho said the company aims to handle an immediate requirement for employment agency-related services of around 80,000 migrant workers, mainly for Japan in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

He added that the company is also exploring opportunities to provide employment agency-related services for migrant workers from other countries as well.

Diamond Palace undertakes various Myanmar national projects, which include consular and employment agency services for Myanmar migrant workers, while Seaview is Diamond Palace’s local partner in Malaysia.
