Licences revoked for flouting subsidised cooking oil rules

LARUT,  28 Jan 2018:

The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry has withdrawn the licences of eight companies licensed to supply subsidised cooking oil for flouting regulations.

Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said these companies were located in Seremban, Johor Bahru, Sandakan and Terengganu.

He said stern action had to be taken because these companies were out to make a quick profit by engaging in illegal sale of subsidised cooking oil.

”The revoking of the licences also involved the seizure of more than 2,000 tonnes of subsidised cooking oil. We will award the licences to other companies in the localities to ensure there are not shortages in the areas concerned.”

He added that there are 270 companies currently contracted to supply subsidised cooking oil nationwide and that a special task force was set up four months ago to ensure that they complied with the regulations.
