JOHOR BAHRU, 7 Jan 2019:
The Johor government has welcomed Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP)’s decision to provide business licences to illegal traders in the area.
State Local Government, Science and Technology Committee chairman Tan Hong Pin and MBIP said in a joint statement the move is being implemented after conducting investigations and receiving complaints and enquiries on the acquisition of trading sites and business licences.
Tan, who is also Skudai state assemblyman, admitted there were weaknesses in the processing system – like the long waiting period as well as small site areas, which resulted in traders having to use others’ licences.
“The proposal is rational and can avoid any misunderstanding and dissatisfaction among the traders before MBIP takes enforcement action.”
Traders in the area have been urged to contact MBIP to speed up and facilitate the move to get their business licences.
