Fixed airfares for East-West Malaysia travel on AirAsia Raya flights

SEPANG, 7 March 2023:

To counter complaints of surging airfares during peak period travel, AirAsia has launched extra flights at fixed prices connecting East and West Malaysia for the upcoming Raya travel.

These special-priced airfares apply for booking till April 30 for travel from April 19 to 21 and April 28 to 30. Further, BigPay users can enjoy 5% off all AirAsia flights with flight code ‘AK’ for a year by using the promo code “BIGPAY5”.

The airfares are fixed at RM199 and RM249 one way from Peninsular Malaysia to Sarawak and Sabah respectively. These flights connect Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri in Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau in Sabah to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.

The fixed fares apply only for one-way travel, inclusive of taxes and fees, to the extra flights and specific flight numbers.

At today’s launch, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said: “This is the second time this year I’m officiating AirAsia’s special ‘fixed fares’ for the festive season.

“I implore other industry players to follow suit and bring down the cost of travel ‒ particularly during the festive periods for more folks to enjoy making precious memories with their friends and families.”

AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd group chief executive officer Bo Lingam said: “Festive seasons are a time when the travel industry usually sees a hike in prices.. Enabling everyone, especially Malaysians to travel has and will always be our mission and vision since 2001.

“We’re now at 164 aircraft as a group and our fleet number will be back to the full 229 in coming months – where we’ll be able to fly even more people. In the last 21 years, we’ve flown close to 800 million guests … and we’re only just getting started again.”
