AIG Malaysia is piloting a new way to sell various insurance products online across the region, starting with three products via Lazada Malaysia.
AIG Malaysia chief executive officer Antony Lee said customers who shop on Lazada Malaysia are now able to shop from the ‘freestanding’ AIG shop-front to easily purchase travel, snatch theft and personal accident (Active Lifestyle Care) coverage.
“These premiums will be priced between RM8 to RM115.”
He explained the direct sale of these insurance products should appeal to customers – not only due to ease of purchase, but because of the extra benefits made available through the American International Group Inc global network.
Asked whether the direct online sales would impact its agency force, Lee said these are meant for the mass market and are low-priced – which the agents typically don’t give much focus to.
“By making it convenient for customers, we aim to expand the accessibility of these insurance products for many, who may otherwise find it too troublesome to obtain.”
