KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Feb 2018:
Aeon Co (M) Bhd is aiming to tap what it sees as a growing market segment in providing convenience for busy urbanites with its latest MaxValu Prime branded stores – combining ready-to-eat servings with its supermarket offerings plus Wellness pharmacies.
Executive director Poh Ying Loo today said this strategy of targeting the convenience market segment brings together some of the retail chain’s key strengths and several more MaxValu Prime outlets are planned over the next few months – mainly in the Klang Valley for now.
“It offers time-saving visits for people-on-the-go, being able to get almost all daily essentials at one stop.”
So far, Aeon has opened three MaxValu Prime outlets – Sunway Velocity Cheras, Evo Bangi and Sphere Bangsar South – with another three at least planned. Another component likely to be included in this combination could be the Daiso outlet, he added.
But Poh said some locations may not offer the right mix to have the “Prime” portion of the branding – referring to the ready-to-eat stalls and will just feature the MaxValu supermarket outlet.
Similarly, the Wellness pharmacies could be standalone stores – with the Bangsar South outlet being the 54th in this chain, marking rapid growth since the first such-branded store opened in Mid Valley Megamall in 2006.
Amidst this push, Poh said Aeon will continue to expand its flagship stores – with its first ever Aeon store opening in East Malaysia this April, in Kuching.
