Residents associations can get CCTV for ‘free’ before Oct 31

MELAKA, 3 Oct 2017:

Some 170 resident associations registered under the Registry of Societies of Malaysia (ROS) Melaka branch are urged to apply for grants totalling  RM10,000 before Oct 31.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the grants provided by the federal government were for the implementation of programmes on crime prevention, drugs, neighbourhood activities, cleanliness and purchase of security equipment.

He said, out of the total 259 resident associations currently registered under ROS, only 82 had received the allocation while seven were in the process of being approved.

“The federal government provided a total allocation of RM40 million for the whole country as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the 2017 Budget.

“But unfortunately many had yet to apply for the grants,” he told reporters after officiating the grant presentation for the implementation of the drugs prevention programme in Melaka yesterday.

He said after Oct 31, the allocation would no longer be valid.
