KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Sept 2017:
Pos Malaysia Bhd will issue and sell ‘Negaraku’ stamp series from tomorrow to commemorate the Malaysia Day celebration on Saturday Sept 16.
Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the ‘Negaraku’ stamp design was based on entries received from the Negaraku Art Competition – which was held in schools throughout the country in May this year.
He said the stamp series would feature four designs priced at 55 sen (150,000 pieces) and 65 sen (200,000 pieces) respectively – depicting the spirit of unity in Malaysia, as well as a reminder of the struggles in achieving the birth of a great nation.
“And of course these represent its (country’s) future through the eyes of the future generation. The cancellation mark features the Malaysian map and the word NEGARAKU.
“As part of the series, we have also produced two miniature sheets bearing the NEGARAKU logo priced at RM3.20 (20,000 pieces) and RM6.35 (15,000 pieces).
“The logo on the RM6.35 miniature sheets will have the Spot UV finishing, which I believe will be a hit among ardent collectors and the public in general,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Shukrie said Pos Malaysia had previously issued numerous stamp series to commemorate the nation’s historic occasions such as Independence Day and Father of Independence in 2003 to celebrate the 100 Year Birth Date of the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the country’s first prime minister.
Meanwhile, in addition to the stamp series, other philatelic products such as the First Day Covers, inclusive of a brochure worth 55 sen each, a postcard worth RM1.05 each, as well as folders worth RM6.35 each would be released.
Overall, the complete set of the ‘Negaraku’ stamp series is available at RM77.05 each inclusive of GST, the statement added.
The public can log on to www.pos.com.my or visit the nearest Pos Malaysia outlet or the Stamp Gallery at Pos Malaysia headquarters to purchase the ‘Negaraku’ stamp series.
