Legoland Malaysia reaching out to students with Sea Life attraction

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 21 Jan 2018:

Since opening its doors to the public in September 2012, Legoland Malaysia has been focused on attracting the leisure traveller with its flagship theme park – followed by the Legoland Hotel and the water park.

This focus is set to expand by year-end with its latest Sea Life aquarium attraction – which also aims to draw in students from all over to get up close to marine life, combined with interactive education on conservation efforts under its global ‘Breed, Rescue, Protect’ programme.

This focus on environmental consciousness dates back to 1979 when Sea Life began as a small seal sanctuary along Loch Creran in Oban, Scotland – and has since grown to about 50 aquariums worldwide, housing nearly 150,000 creatures, and become now the largest aquarium organisation in the world.

In Malaysia, this latest attraction will have over 25 display tanks in 11 habitat zones – featuring thousands of sea creatures within a two-storey building covering 2,123 sqm.

“Children will get to interact with the sea creatures up close and learn about their natural habitats. It is the first family resort in Malaysia to offer interactive and educational marine life experience,” said general manager Kurt Stocks.

“Visitors can learn about some of the sea’s most famous and popular creatures such as seahorses, rays, sharks and jellies, in addition to animal healthcare and food preparation for sea creatures through behind-the-scene tours.”

Exclusive to the Malaysian Sea Life attraction will be a special zone on the local rainforest – showcasing many of the creatures found only here.

Entry to Sea Life will be charged separately – as with the main outdoor theme park, water park and hotel stay – but Stock said packaged deals will also be available.

Moving forward, he said there are more anchor attractions still being developed at the 76-acre site – with completion of the entire project still years away.

“We will continue to invest in the development of the resort, to ensure that every visit is a new and refreshing experience for our guests.”
