KUALA LUMPUR, 4 March 2020:
The Japanese government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) scholarships for the academic year 2021 is now open for application from Malaysian nationals wanting to pursue their studies in Japan.
The Embassy of Japan said in a statement here today the scholarship will provide monthly allowances of approximately ¥117,000 (RM4,000) for undergraduate grantee and ¥143,000 (RM5,000) for postgraduate grantee.
“Fees of the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted and a round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.”
For undergraduate scholarship to pursue a five-to-seven-year Bachelor’s degree course starting April 2021, the applicants must be between 17 and 25 years of age as of 1 April 2020.
Applicants must have completed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least 11 years of formal education, but those who have completed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), Matriculation or Diploma may also apply.
“Applicants must have a good command of English or Japanese with excellent results in other major subjects.”
For postgraduate scholarship, applicants must be under 35 years old as of 1 April 2021, and must be a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree holder with minimum CGPA of 3.4.
“Undergraduates or Master’s students who are in the final year of their respective universities are also eligible to apply.”
For civil servants, they are required to apply through the Public Service Department of Malaysia.
