KUALA LUMPUR, 14 Sept 2023:
Malaysia International Durian Culture Fest (MIDCF) 2023, held over the weekend, ended with two Malaysia Book of Records as well as having 1,000 runners for largest durian fun run yet.
The 3-day durian buffet started on Friday Sept 8 after being officiated by Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar and the event finale was graced by Tengku Datuk Dr Hishammuddin Zaizi Tengku Bendahara Azman Shah from the Royal Family of Sultan Selangor.
The 1st MIDCF began small at DKing SS2 outlet in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, with merely few hundreds and the second at Pavilion Bukit Jalil with a crowd of around 2,000 after recovery from the pandemic.
The 3rd iteration saw 3,600 durian lovers and 1,000 runners take part in the festival organised by DKing & LKE Musang Queen.
The Durian Fun Run on Sunday Sept 10 was a family puller to walk 5KM holding a replica of Malaysia Musang King Durian. The run was flagged off by Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia and famous DJ Chan Fong after warm up and photo opportunity season.
The finale was enhanced by MeLife breaking the previous record of 1,154 face washes with a new record of 1,458 face washes in a day. The team begin at 8am and continued till 7pm non-stop washing and raised about RM2,000. – with Melife’s Datin Seri Jekkie Chin adding another RM5,000 for vegetarian food contribution to needy with beauty queen Carrie Lee.

The Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) certificates were presented by Edwin Yeoh, senior adjudicators of MBR and witnessed by Tengku Hishammuddin and MBR founder Tan Sri Danny Ooi.
